University of South Wales Men’s 1st have made five changes to the team that beat UWE, as they look for their fourth consecutive victory when they host Hartpury University Centre Men’s 2nd on Wednesday.
After a shaky start to the season, USW currently find themselves fourth in the BUCS Rugby Union South A table, after winning their last three matches, against UWE, Bath and Exeter.
A hard-fought 17-7 victory away at UWE last Wednesday confirmed their return to form, and they’ll be hoping to extend their unbeaten run against Hartpury Men’s 2nd, who are one place above them in third.
USW will be out to avenge the 40-29 defeat they suffered at the hands of Hartpury on the opening day of this season, a game where ‘Pury’ outscored them by six tries to four.
The Welsh university lost in both of the meetings between the sides last season, with Hartpury running out 45-3 winners in October, and then doing the double with a 36-25 victory at USW Sport Park in Treforest.
A win for USW with a margin of 37 points or more would see them leapfrog their Gloucestershire counterparts into third, whilst a win for Pury would extend their lead over USW and keep them right in contention at the top.
