USW Men’s 1st side are looking to provide an upset as they square off against second placed Swansea University today at the Sport Park in Treforest.

The match-up will be the first game since a lengthy Christmas break for the home side, which was extended after the game couldn’t go ahead last week because of problems with the pitch.

But head coach Steve Savage will not accept any lapses in concentration from his team as they prepare for their clash.

The last competitive league fixture for the home side came back in November, where they narrowly lost a nail-biting affair to the University of Bath 1-0, as they currently sit in 4th place, languishing just two points behind their opposition.

Swansea University’s last fixture also featured in November, in a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to a third placed Hartpury side. With both sides looking to bounce back to winning ways and finish the season on a high, the fixture promises to be a hard-fought encounter with neither side looking a clear favourite to take all three points.

USW will be feeling confident heading in to the game with a real opportunity to end their league campaign on a strong note, with a recent friendly against Exeter providing the perfect opportunity to get back to match fitness.

Head Coach Steve Savage said on the upcoming fixture: “We are looking forward to the game and our friendly against Exeter was helpful match preparation”.

It is no doubt both sides will come into the game feeling confident, with their league positions suggesting an evenly matched affair. The question now remains which team will have keep their nerve to take all three points on the day.
