THE University of South Wales Men’s 1st side are back in action this Wednesday as they square off against the University of Stirling in the first Championship Cup fixture this season.

USW will be hoping to progress onto the next round to prevent a premature exit in the early stages, as they look to bring home their first piece of silverware of the campaign.

After a dominant 5-1 victory over Swansea University in their last competitive fixture, confidence will be flying high throughout Steve Savage’s squad as they look to keep the tempo and build upon their strong end to the season.

Ahead of the fixture, coach Steve Savage said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Stirling to the USW Sport Park in the Championship Cup, in what will no doubt be a tough competitive game.”

Their opponents Stirling will be hoping to snap a two-game losing streak and get back to the form that saw them beat the City of Glasgow College side 8-0 in January.

With Stirling currently sitting at the bottom of the BUCS Premier North League, USW will be looking ahead to this fixture with great intentions, however Savage won’t allow any lapses in his sides discipline, stating:

“Knockout football is always exciting, so we will prepare right and hope we can execute the game plan to ensure we progress into the next round”.
