SUBSTITUTE Mikey George’s late strike sealed a comeback victory for USW as they continued their unbeaten start to the season.

USW dominated the ball in the first ten minutes but struggled to find a way past a resolute Swansea defence, with their first real chance coming in the 34th minute. Striker Danny Williams with an inch-perfect ball to Kane Owens, however his effort on the volley went inches wide.

Despite the home side dominating the ball for large periods of the first half, it was Swansea who could have taken the lead in the 42nd minute. Declan McCabe’s corner fell to Oliver Roberts at the back post, however he couldn’t keep his shot down and the ball sailed over the bar.

USW found themselves with another half chance just before half-time. Williams collected the ball in the box with his back to goal and span away from his marker before firing a shot across goal, however Swansea stopper Morgan Pugh did well at his near post to turn his effort away.

It was Swansea who had the better of the earlier exchanges in the second half and nearly took the lead after 55 minutes. Another expertly delivered corner from McCabe, this time finding Alban Zohn unmarked eight yards out, but he steered his header wide.

The away side did open the scoring just after the hour mark. A long ball forward from Pugh was knocked down by Jack Howell to Marley Bishop Wisdom, who slotted home past Morris from 12 yards out.

It took little over a minute for USW to draw level. Lee Baldock did well down the left-hand side to deliver a ball into the box, a slight deflection meant the ball fell to the feet of substitute Liam Edwards, his effort was well saved by Pugh and Williams was quickest to react to the second ball and tapped home to equalise.

The equaliser shifted the momentum of the game and USW took the lead in the 75th minute – Clayton Green with some great work on the dead ball line to fire a cross into the box. Swansea’s Elliot Jones made a hash of a straightforward clearance, allowing the ball to find substitute Mikey George, who make no mistake, firing past Pugh to give USW the lead.

Swansea pushed for an equalised in the last ten minutes however they couldn’t find a way past a solid USW defence as the home side held on for the win.
