Report: University of South Wales 3 13-43 Aberystwyth University 2

USW Netball 3s in action.

by Ben Jones & Sam Hart

USW and Aberystwyth met on a day where it was certainly much better to be inside than outside.

The home side opened the scoring before Aberystwyth asserted their dominance, scoring at a fast pace through goal attack, Holly Rowland and goal shooter, Georgia Fellows.

The Seasiders’ furthered their lead, as the prolific pair of Rowland and Fellows took the majority of chances that came their way.

USW stopped the ongoing Aberystwyth attack as they notched points of their own to leave the score lying at 13-4 in the visitors’ favour.

The second quarter mirrored much of the first as Aber continued with their productiveness in the shooting circle as Rowland and Fellows added to their personal tallies.

The visitors’ attack was matched with their team defence, winning the ball in the centre and attacking thirds, giving USW limited time on the ball.

USW’s efforts were rewarded with goals of their own, but as the first half came to a close, Aberystwyth were in the ascendency, up 24-7 and full of confidence going into the second half.

The second half started the way the first half ended with Aberystwyth on top with their GA scoring twice in quick succession to make the score 7-26.

USW scored with their GA before changing the centre into goal attack and had instant success with Lauren Sheppard having instant success scoring to make it 9-26 to Aberystwyth.

After that it turned into a quick-fire scoring for both teams with Aberystwyth’s GA scoring another three and USW GS adding two more to the scoring ending the third quarter at 13-41

Into the fourth quarter Aberystwyth turned on the scoring proceeding to score 11 points with their GA scoring nine of them and the GS adding two more, with the USW GA and GS adding one each to make the score 43-13 at full time
