WALES Women’s manager Jayne Ludlow announced her 24 player squad ahead of Wales’ upcoming friendly against Italy.
Ludlow expressed the importance of keeping the profile of the women’s game high in order to encourage the next generation of female talent to take part following Wales’ narrow failure to qualify for the World Cup.
“It’s key you know everything we do has a massive influence on this generation and the next generation – that’s how we see it.
“Every single player who has the responsibility in the senior team to step on the pitch and play or to be involved with the squad has a massive responsibility to help grow the game as well.
“We are very much in the early stages of growth and development of the female game here, so that makes me smile because there’s so much growth and room for growth but I want all our senior national team players to be a huge part of that in whatever form that is, coaches, journalism or whatever realm that is.
“If they can help grow this game then we want them involved as much as we possibly can.”
