USW Women’s 2nd begin their campaign for the season at home against University of Bath Spa Women 2nd in what should be a very tight affair.
USW ended last season fairly disappointingly in 6th place, whereas their opposition, Bath Spa, finished dead last in 8th.
Playing out of the Western 6A BUCS league there is the chance of promotion if the side can achieve first place.
The last time the two sides met was almost one year ago where they played out for a draw, 32-32.
Since then a lot has changed within the USW camp. The players have taken over coaching themselves and around only half of the original squad of last year has stayed the same with the other being replaced by first years.
Captain Kelly Nicol is high in hopes after the positive changes made in preseason saying, “I think we always aim for the top of the league, that’s the main goal, but if we manage to get the 3rd place this year the team would be satisfied.”
USW have lost their last 5 games against the likes of University of Southampton, Gloucestershire, Plymouth, Southampton Solent and Bath.
Bath Spa’s form is no better losing to AECC, University of Plymouth, Bath, Cardiff Met and Southampton.
The match starts at 15:30.
