CARDIFF City prepare to face Millwall tonight in Championship action at the Den.

The Bluebirds are looking for their first away win of the season after three losses and three draws in the league, and a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday just four days ago.

It’s a busy period for Neil Warnock’s side, with the first south Wales derby in five years just days away, changes can be expected for the squad heading into the fixture.

Sol Bamba featured in an Under-23’s game against Colchester recently, with Will Vaulks also making an appearance, as a result both can be expected to miss tonight’s clash with the Lions.

Warnock is cautious of the workload expected over the coming days, and knows he will have a tough few games ahead with wholesale changes needed.

“I usually just work on one game at a time but this is a big week and I think we will have to use the squad over the three games,” Warnock said.

“You take them one at a time but you have to say that with all the travelling involved, going up to London on Tuesday, it’s probably the toughest week we’ll have this season.

“Millwall away is never easy and then likewise a local derby next weekend. They are three interesting games and you have to come up with answers.”

Cardiff have only won one of their last nine away league visits at the Den, needing to go as far back as 2012 before their last victory there, a 2-0 win over the Lions preceding six draws and two losses on the bounce.

Millwall have struggled in the league this season, sitting in the bottom half of the table as former manager Neil Harris parted ways with the club in the process.

Gary Rowett is set to take charge of the Lions for his first outing after the game this evening, and will be hoping his side will show promise against the Bluebirds before he takes the reigns.

“What I think we can bring is what we have done at previous clubs, which is, whether now or in the future, is challenge for the top positions,” Rowett said.

“With Birmingham we showed we could take a team in a much poorer position into a position just around the play-offs. That will be the aim.

“I am realistic that we want to build properly but the aim every season in the Championship is to get into the Premier League.
“You have to have that Premier League mentality, even if you are in the Championship trying to get out of it. That mentality of trying to win every game is going to be important.”
