Preview: USW Womens 2nd v UWTSD Swansea 1st

by Matthew Williams

A NEW season is upon us. A new season not only means a new squad and new positivity, it also means new expectations. These new expectations will be felt more by fewer teams than USW.

USW will be hoping to improve on their fantastic campaign last season. USW recorded some huge wins throughout last season, but ultimately fell short at the business end of the season. USW’s efforts last season led them to playing a part in an exhilarating title race. Ultimately, USW fell just short.

USW’s eighteen points wasn’t quite enough to clinch the title, as Swansea 2nds eventually took the gold. USW’s impressive tally was three points shy of Swansea’s and an unbelievable nine more of third place UWTSD Carmarthen.

USW’s goal difference of thirteen was also the second best in the league, and a comfortable twelve clear of third place Carmarthen.

If form is anything to go by, the hosts might just be in luck. USW’s last fixture was a scintillating 6-1 win away to Gloucestershire 2nds; a brilliant way to round off a superb season.

USW will welcome the visit of UWTSD Swansea 2nds, who last season finished bottom of the table. The visitors finished last their last campaign with just one win all season. If anything, this means Swansea will be anything but a walkover.

With a new season finally here, both sides will need to be at their best in order to pick up the points. What a game it promises to be.
