AFTER last weekend’s derby day victory, Swansea will look to extend their unbeaten away run when they visit Wigan on Saturday.

Sunday’s win over their rivals Cardiff means Steve Cooper’s side sit in fourth spot and could go top should they beat the Latics in the Championship’s early kick off.

Ben Wilmot is likely to continue in defence in the absence of Joe Rodon. Rodon underwent successful surgery on his ankle this week and will miss the next three months.

Wigan centre back Chey Dunkley is one to watch out for this weekend. Dunkley has five goals already this season – including two against Bristol City – and poses a threat from set pieces.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Swansea will be buoyed by the victory over Cardiff, however Cooper is wary of the threat Wigan pose to his side.

“It’s a big game against Wigan and we are very much focused on that. Wigan have got an amazing home record, they are pretty formidable. They are definitely a team with good players and they’ve had some investment in the squad over the summer.”

Wigan captain Samy Morsy was singing the praises of teammate Dunkley in the build up to the game.

“Any time he enters the area he believes he’s going to score. He attacks the ball like there’s nobody else around him.”

Form Guide

Wigan have lost just one match at home – 2-0 to Leeds back in August – with all four league wins coming at the DW Stadium.

The Latics have not conceded a home league goal since the defeat to Leeds.

Swansea are unbeaten away from home this season and have only been shut out twice by their opposition on their travels.

Dunkley is the only Wigan player to have scored more than one goal this season. Borja Baston tops the Swans goalscoring charts with six strikes while Andre Ayew is just one goal behind.
