UNIVERSITY of South Wales are out of the cup after they were defeated 27-51 by Bristol University at the USW Sport Park.
USW came into this game off the back of losing to the same team 46-3 the week before. Bristol secured passage to the next round after a dominant 3rd quarter which saw them take an 18-goal lead.
Bristol started the game with eight uncontested goals before Kiera Aitken started the scoring for USW. A fight back saw them cut the lead to two at the end of the first quarter.
Aitken continued her lethal touch at the post into the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough for USW as they failed to bring the score closer than two goals.
Bristol held their lead and closed out the half successfully, increasing their lead to four. USW trailed Bristol University 27-51 at the interval.
The away side extended their lead to eight in the opening five minutes of the third quarter. A disappointing quarter for USW saw the deficit grow to 18.
Sophie Rogers and Georgie Hidiman led the way for Bristol as they helped their side to a 16:2 quarter.
USW needed a dominant fourth quarter to stand any chance of progression in the cup and started the final quarter strong with three early goals for Aitken.
However, Bristol continued their dominance and took the lead to 20 goals at the halfway point of the final quarter.
The away side secured victory as they comfortably closed out the fourth quarter to record a 27-51 victory at the Sport Park.
