BRISTOL Rovers play host to high-flying National League side Bromley in the FA Cup first round on Sunday.
Rovers will hope to avoid three consecutive first round exits against their non-league rivals. Bristol have not progressed further than the first round since 2013-14 where they lost to Birmingham 3-0.
Visiting side Bromley will see it as an opportunity to test themselves against league opposition. Bromley are flying high at the top of the National League and a result against League One Bristol Rovers will give them confidence for the remainder of the season.
Bromley have not reached the second round of the FA Cup for 73 years. They have a chance at history on Sunday.
From the Dugout
Rovers boss Joe Dunne highlighted the significance of the fixture before the game. “The FA Cup always brings excitement to any club.
“These days FA Cup games are special, they create a different atmosphere. It brings a freshness and a different feel.”
Dunne also emphasised the importance of his side’s results against Rochdale and Portsmouth with his side full of confidence.
Form Guide
The home side will look to continue their solid form at the Memorial Stadium. Rovers have lost just once in the league at home, a shock 2-0 defeat to struggling Bolton.
An impressive fight back against Portsmouth and resilient win over Rochdale followed and Rovers will be confident of avoiding an upset.
Bromley beat Aldershot 4-3 in a thrilling fourth round qualifying match to make it into the first-round draw.
Since then, a disappointing defeat to Wrexham and a drab draw at home to Stockport have halted their title charge.
