Coach insists team are ‘back on the road’ after victory against Bath

COACH Mark Hutton praised his USW Women side after their hard-fought 22-12 win against Bath.

The hosts pulled clear late in the game after a nervy first hour and were worthy of their success by the final whistle.

Hutton said: “It’s the result we wanted, obviously a bounce back from last week and the girls were very focused on a key result and the bonus point, it doesn’t get any better than that.

“We’ve just showed we’re a team that go right in to the last few minutes of a game, we’ve shown it consecutively now in other games. We have a don’t give up attitude. Overall I’m very pleased with the result.”

After defeat last week, Hutton stressed it was important to return to winning ways.

“We’ve shown we’re back on the road now, obviously last week’s defeat was a bitter pill to swallow,” he said.

“But looking at that game we could see what went wrong and what could we work on which we felt we nailed in training this week. T

“The girls were very determined with their effort and to come away with the win today.”

Looking forward to next week’s game against Oxford in the cup, Hutton appeared quietly confident.

“We’ll just keep building again, obviously intensity would be one for me,” he said.

“I think parts of today and in previous game we’ve just dropped off a little bit.

“So very much our focus for Monday and going in to that cup game now will be intensity and continual intensity throughout the game, whether we’re in attack or defence.”
