MANAGER Rob Bailey criticised his players after watching USW 3rds play out an enthralling 3-3 draw with Hartpury 3rds at the USW Sport Park.
“That honestly feels like a loss, we got what we deserved which was very nearly nothing,” said Bailey.
“We worked hard out there but for me that should be a given, week in, week out.”
Bailey voiced his frustration that USW hadn’t dispatched what he labelled a ‘clearly inferior’ Hartpury outfit.
He added: “No disrespect to Hartpury but we let a team that is clearly inferior to us have a chance in the game and credit to them, they took it.
“Luckily, we’ve got the strike force to save us from what was ultimately a poor defensive display as a team. We’ve conceded two shots at an open goal, as well as a penalty.”
Asked if there were any positives to take from the display, Bailey said: “The only real positive is that we have shown we’re never beaten.
“Even in our last game against the USW 4ths, we played poorly but we dug deep and found a way to get a result.
“We started the second half very brightly, obviously the penalty just before half-time gave us a 2-1 lead and I think that gave the boys a bit more confidence.
“But the sin-binning of Danny Chadwick disrupted our flow and we never really recovered.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Bailey added: “I hope I don’t see another performance like that from us.
“We’ve got Gloucester away as our next game and I am expecting us to go there and put in a performance.
“So far this season, we haven’t put in a complete performance worthy of this group of players.”
