UNIVERSITY of South Wales 2nd travel to Cardiff Metropolitan University in a derby clash for the second time this season.

Lawrence Badman’s side face Cardiff Met 3rd in the Western Tier 3 match. The first visit was against Cardiff Met 4th who are in the same league as them. The result wasn’t what they would have hoped for as USW lost 2-1.

This was USW’s only defeat in the league this season as they beat Swansea University 3rd on the opening day and also got a home win over Bristol University 4th. However, last week USW lost in the cup to Bristol 4th.

Cardiff Met 3rd go into the game with an identical record to USW as they have two wins and a defeat so far this season; the wins coming against Bristol and Hartpury, and an away defeat against Cardiff.

USW assistant coach James McElvenney said: “Going into the game we need to find consistency, we’ve struggled to find that so far this season. They will have chances, for 75 minutes we were on top last time against Met, but they showed us the last time they just need 10 to 15 minutes to create chances and take them.

“Of course, the defeat gives us that extra motivation to go back there and prove a point, but we have to manage our emotions better from the atmosphere on the side and deal with the physicality of the derby. This is the game we all want to be involved in.”

Kick-off is at 13:00.
