BARRY Town United make the long trip north to face Cefn Druids aiming to bounce back from their thumping 4-0 home defeat.
They travel to the Rock in the Cymru Premier after losing to now topflight leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads, while Druids look to extend their winning streak to four games.
Saturday’s hosts currently sit eighth in the standings with two games in hand and are 15 points off first place. They have had an inconsistent season so far, winning four, drawing three and losing five and before their current winning streak, their last topflight victory came against Airbus UK Broughton in the second game of the campaign.
Barry made a terrific start to the season by going 11 matches unbeaten and topped the table, but are now on a two game losing run, having also gone down 4-1 away at Caernarfon Town. Gavin Chesterfield’s side now sit second – three points off top spot with one game in hand.
Last time out
It will be the second meeting between the teams in 2019/20 and in the opening encounter in September, Barry took a narrow 1-0 win at Jenner Park through Christopher Hugh’s goal.
The result meant that the Town stayed top of the Cymru Premier table, went seven games unbeaten and kept four clean sheets in a row.
Team news
Barry will be without goalkeeper George Ratcliffe, as he is away on Wales U21 duty ahead of their upcoming UEFA European U21 Championship qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday, November 19th at the Racecourse Ground.
The Town’s Jonathan Hood is suspended following his red card for dissent last time out, while their midfielder Troy Greening is out with a season-ending injury.
Jordan Cotterill could make his first start after returning to action against the Nomads.
Cefn Druids manager Huw Griffiths spoke about the importance of continuing their winning streak ahead of the encounter. He told Cymru Football: “It is very important that we keep going in the manner that we have been in the last few weeks, really, because the last three results have been massive for us.
“It is important that we keep going about our business on the pitch in that manner, and if we keep everybody fit, everyone maintains their commitment, then we’ve got a real chance at winning any game.”
