UNIVERSITY of South Wales graduate Mark Andrews made his main roster debut for the WWE last week.

Andrews – a former Media Production student – appeared on WWE’s flagship show, RAW, which attracted an average of 2.058 million viewers in America.

The 27-year-old wrestled with fellow Welshman Flash Morgan Webster, with the show – which is the longest-running weekly episodic programme in America – broadcast from across the pond in Manchester last week.

The tag team, known as ‘The South Wales Subculture’, were defeated in their main roster debut as they lost to RAW Tag Team Champions ‘The Viking Raiders’.

“There is no shame in coming up short against one of the most decorated tag teams in the world,” Andrews said to WWE.com after a valiant effort against Erik & Ivar.

Andrews and Webster are the only Welsh champions in the history of the WWE. The south Wales duo won the NXT UK Championships in August in front of a home crowd at the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff.

Compatriot Tegan Nox [Steffanie Newell] appeared on WWE’s other main roster program, Smackdown, two weeks ago and is a regular feature on developmental brand NXT.

Andrews and tag team partner Webster can be seen on WWE’s developmental United Kingdom brand ‘NXT UK’, which is broadcast weekly on the WWE Network.
