USW 1st shared the spoils with Cardiff University in a thrilling game which see-sawed from start to finish before ending 6-6.
The game started at a frantic pace, with USW’s Tessa Hepburn cutting in from the side and firing home the opening goal after just five minutes.
But the away side found themselves on level terms moments later. Joey Johnson stole the ball from the USW defence, found herself through on goal and made no mistake with her finish.
There was no let-up in the pace as the second quarter got underway.
Viki Szirtes carried the ball beautifully through the Cardiff defence and hit a ferocious shot past the Cardiff keeper to restore the USW advantage at 2-1.
Cardiff University levelled on the stroke of half time through a spectacular Xany Sloane strike but goals from USW captain Hannah Westhenry and Hepburn again put the hosts into a commanding looking 4-2 lead.
But Cardiff were by no means finished.
After hitting the post twice in 30 seconds, they made the pressure pay as Brenna Taylor converted from close range.
While Westhenry made it 5-3 moments later controversy soon ensued as the home side had a goal chalked off their tally some 20 minutes after it had been awarded.
There was obvious confusion and anger, but with the score now back to 4-3 Cardiff found momentum and hauled themselves level through a second Taylor goal.
USW were staring down the barrel when their opponents took the lead for the first time in the game through Sloane, but Westhenry and Hepburn rode to the rescue with two quick-fire strikes which made it 6-5.
Victory was within touching distance, only for Cardiff to grab a late equaliser through Lils Ross.
That marked the end of a quite enthralling encounter, with the result probably a fair reflection of a memorable clash.
