LEAGUE leaders Cardiff RFC host Aberavon in a top-of-the-table clash in the Indigo Group Premiership at the Arms Park on Friday.

The undefeated Blue and Blacks are 11 points clear of Aberavon, and will be looking to emulate last season’s 26-20 victory over the Wizards at the same venue.

Cardiff maintained their 100 per-cent record with a bonus-point win over a battling Bridgend at the Brewery Field last weekend, while Aberavon fell to a 16-11 defeat against Llanelli.

Speaking after his side’s performance last time out, Aberavon head coach Jason Hyatt told the club’s website: “I was very disappointed.

“Our attacking game never got going and we never put them under enough pressure.”

Cardiff completed a league double over the away side last season, and edge the head-to-head record in the league 19-16.

But Aberavon’s sixth-place finish last term seems a distant memory, as five consecutive victories at the start of their campaign, including wins over champions Merthyr and Pontypridd, have put them in good stead.

Scoring plenty of tries is going to be important come the conclusion of the season in May – and unsurprisingly, Cardiff boast the most points scored in the league, averaging 26.1 points per game.

While Aberavon have the second best defensive record in the league, conceding an average of 17.5 points per game.

The game kicks off at 7:30pm.
