USW 4th are in the best shape possible to claim their first league victory as they travel to Bristol, according to their coach Callum McGarry.
Both teams have endured a mixed start to the season with Bristol coming in as favourites.
During this campaign, USW haven’t had a league result separated by more than one goal. They have drawn one and lost two and find themselves bottom of the league.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the table, USW defeated Swansea 2nd on penalties in the first round of the cup.
Swansea ply their trade in a division three leagues higher than USW making the result all the more impressive.
Their cup run was then ended by in emphatic fashion by Hartpury 2nd who ran out six-nil victors in their second-round clash.
Bristol on the other hand will be hoping to return to winning ways after losing two games on the spin. The score lines on these occasions were 3-0 and 4-0 to Cardiff Metropolitan University Men’s 4th and Cardiff University Men’s 4th respectively.
Coach Callum McGarry looks forward to Bristol clash
USW Coach Callum McGarry spoke ahead of the game saying “We are relishing the chance to pick up our first league win of the season over the bridge against Bristol. I feel we have not received our rewards for some very good performances in the league.”
Despite their inferior league position he remains confident as he said “Because we are sitting at the bottom of the table we have to respect Bristol who are third but we are all confident we can get the result we want.”
McGarry feels his squad replicate these feelings as he added “This is very much the mood within the squad too, I cannot fault their application and commitment this week and we are in the best shape possible to take ourselves up the league.”
The game will take place at the Coombe Dingle Sports complex with kick off at 2:00pm.
