UNIVERSITY of South Wales Women’s 1st will be looking to cement their position at the top of the Western Tier 1 as Bournemouth 1st travel to the Sport Park
USW will be coming into today’s encounter against Bournemouth as strong favourites, with the visitors not having picked up a single point this season.
Despite USW’s strong start to the season, they missed out on a chance to advance to the round of 16 of the Women’s Cup last week as they lost out to Cardiff Met 2nd by a 1-0 scoreline.
However, manager Kath Morgan is confident that USW will bounce back from last Wednesday’s cup defeat.
“The game v Bournemouth is crucial. I am looking for a positive response from the players after a very poor performance last week,” Morgan said.
“There is a lot at stake and we must prove that we deserve to be top of the league over the Christmas period; a huge team effort is needed in order to secure the 3 points.
“I should not need to motivate the girls and I trust they will take responsibility to rectify our blip last week which thankfully has not cost us points.”
A win tomorrow will put USW in a commanding position with only two matches remaining in the season, which both come after the Christmas Holidays.
