SPORTS Journalism students spend much of their time at the University of South Wales’ Sport Park reporting on BUCS fixtures.
But for some of our course mates the Wednesday afternoons involve playing for one of the teams, not watching them.
Third year Mike Wicherek is a footballer with ambitions to work in the sports media industry. He’s been keen to maintain his playing skills as well as developing as a journalist during his time on the course.
A regular in the USW Men’s 3rd team throughout his time in south Wales, he was one of their top goal scorers. He graduates in July and is playing his final season at USW.
And after two and three quarter seasons with the 3rds, he’s featured twice for the 1st team.
