STEVE Cooper has revealed that the Swans are unlikely to make any more signings in January whilst there could still be more outgoings at the Liberty Stadium this window.
Peterson joins Utrecht
Kristoffer Peterson was this week loaned out to Utrecht, the deal gives the Dutch side the option of making the deal permanent in the summer.
The Swede made the switch to Swansea last August from Heracles Almelo but struggled to make an impact, with Cooper pointing to a potential difficulty to adapt to the demands of Championship football as a factor.
“Peterson has left on loan to Utrecht so we wish him well for the rest of the season,” he began.
“He wanted more playing time than what he was getting and I appreciate that, I had a good conversation with him on Saturday morning where we talked through things.
“There’s a little bit of it not going to plan, with bringing him in the summer, but it’s not dead, it is only a loan so what the future looks like for him and Swansea we’re not sure.
“We’re all a bit disheartened that it hasn’t gone to plan so far and I think that Kris, by his own opinion, took a little bit of transition from a different style in the Dutch league to the Championship,
“It’s not completely the end of the story and we’ll re-address in the summer,” he concluded.
Trip to Stoke City
Cooper also looked ahead to Saturday’s trip to the bet365 Stadium as his side face Stoke City.
The Swans squandered a 1-0 lead as the Potters scored a last minute winner to take the spoils when the sides last played in October.
“Stoke’s team on paper is right up there in terms of experience and quality. We’ll appreciate that like we do in every game,
“I was at West Brom on Monday night and they were very hard to play through,
“We know that we’ve got to get every part of our game right to give ourselves the chance to win. If we get it right we can have a good day.”
Rodon back in contention
Cooper’s men are boosted by the potential return of Joe Rodon after requiring surgery on an ankle injury.
“Joe is back in full training and in contention for the weekend,”
“It’s a real big plus to see him back, and for him to have come back so fit, he has really hit the ground running in terms of training and we have been really pleased with him.
“We train at a real intensity and it can take time to getting back to handling that, but he has slotted back in as if he has never been away.”
Kick-off at the bet365 stadium is at 3pm on Saturday 25 January
