HAT-TRICK hero Luke White did the damage as USW 6th were beaten comprehensively at the Sport Park.

The writing was on the wall from an early stage with the visitors beginning the game with far more urgency.

They got their reward when White scored from a counter-attack with just minutes gone.

The goal sparked USW into life and for the rest of the first half-hour the pattern ebbed and flowed with both sides creating chances – and squandering them.

But in the 30th minute Somerset doubled their lead when a clumsy back pass by USW centre-half Jamie Viner was seized upon by White, who slotted home his second.

The strike seemed to visibly deflate the home side, though a long ball from Viner that enabled Chibuike Anene to score – and see the goal ruled out for offside – should have served as encouragement.

USW had started slowly in the first-half and they tried to make up for that after the interval by displaying some fire and urgency. But for all their industry they could not make the breakthrough.

An excellent save from USW ‘keeper Lloyd Turner initially denied White his hat-trick, but the marksman soon made no mistake when an attempted clearance kick by Turner fell to him and he punished the mistake.

USW had their final chance to get a goal with a three on two attack in the closing stages but the fact it ended with a wayward effort by Viner was indicative of the overall picture.

In the 80th minute a volley by Somerset’s Tom Creed set the seal on a scoreline that might have been a touch harsh on USW.
