USW Netball 3s in action.

USW player Lucia Hanlon defended her team-mates after a heavy 59-10 defeat to Hartpury 2nd.

While the hosts never gave up and had to contend with depleted availability, they were no match in the end for a deeply impressive visiting side.

But Hanlon refused to be downcast afterwards.

“Overall, we played really well as a team,” she said.

“We were a few players down at the beginning but managed to get some players from the fourth team to play which really helped us.

“We played some really good stuff and continued with the pace we started with throughout the game. Unfortunately, we lost but we have hopes for the next games.

“I think we need to work on our pattern, and we’re a bit loopy with our long passes which is bad because they were all quite tall players which led to them intercepting the ball a lot more”

“We need to also focus on our footwork in training as that will help us in the next few games and on our contact as well as it’s a vital factor of the game.”

She added: “Hopefully we can win because we haven’t yet which is difficult and tough but when a good game happens hopefully, we can win it”

“As long as we get the score pretty high, we are okay because our score has been quite low in recent weeks so I hope we can improve on that.”

USW 2nd travel to Aberystwyth in their next game hoping to bounce back.
