USW Men’s 5th were too much to handle for Trinity St David’s Camarthen as they cruised to a 4-1 victory courtesy of a dominant second half.
League leaders USW were clear favourites coming into this game, as the first clash between them and Camarthen had ended 5-1 in their favour.
The home side made a fast start and in the second minute Jonas Eze fed Connor Brenan who slotted into the bottom corner off the post from a one-on-one to make it 1-0.
Trinity were far from deflated however, and moments later centre-back Sion Llewelyn rose higher than anyone to direct a header goalwards from a corner only to see his effort saved.
In the 27th minute, the visitors were level when Rhydian Jones cut in from the left and buried a shot in the bottom right corner.
It was all square at the break but USW were quick out of the blocks at the restart and found themselves ahead once more when Calvin Okeke’s perfectly timed header nestled in the back of the net. USW never looked back from this point.
Shortly after the hour mark Brenan fed Arnold Ncube, who took it past the keeper and found an empty net for 3-1.
After that decisive blow, Trinity were unable to create any real chances.
Their fate was sealed well before Ncuble claimed his brace by latching onto a Lewis Brown through ball and rolling the ball into an empty goal after the Trinity goalkeeper had got himself in a tangle.
After the game, head coach Tim Heal praised Okeke’s performance. “He was pressing constantly” Heal said, “he didn’t stop running”.
As the season nears its ending, Heal says he is satisfied with how it has gone.
He added: “The expectations at the start of the season were to win the league, and I think we are right on course to do that.”
