WITH the USW camp visibly reeling from a defeat which was a major setback to their title aspirations, it was left to Cardiff University 3rd coach Will Beeson to reflect on his side’s 3-2 win at the Sport Park.
USW were undone by a second half Cardiff surge that was enough to overhaul a 2-1 half-time deficit.
It means the champagne stays firmly on ice in terms of the championship spoils – and the frustration in USW ranks was palpable in the aftermath.
Beeson said: “We didn’t really expect much from this game as USW are top of the league.
“We started the season well but we’ve had a few tough results recently so we didn’t really expect to come here and win but we came here with a game plan and it worked.”
“Our loss to Cardiff Met last week makes us rely on other results, but if they go our way we might be in with a chance.
“It could go down to the last game of the season when USW come to us.”
The win puts Cardiff 3rd in second place in the table on 15 points, three points behind leaders USW in the Men’s Western Tier 3.
Beeson added: “Potentially preparations could be different for next week’s game against Bristol because they are a weaker side, but I’m sure we can come away with a result”.
Cardiff 3rd beat Bristol 4th 5-1 earlier this season.
