MERTHYR Town football club have showed their community-focused credentials by offering meals to emergency service staff working in the flood-hit area.
The Martyrs, who describe themselves as a ‘100% fan owned community club’, made the gesture following wide-spread disruption caused by Storm Dennis.
The Met Office took the unusual decision to issue a red weather warning for south Wales on Sunday morning.

However, Southern League Premier Division side Merthyr Town FC have kept community spirits high by supporting those working locally.
The club have offered free roast dinners for any emergency service workers dealing with the floods or any flood related incidents.

Merthyr Tydfil council enforced road closures, handed out sandbags to residents and were forced to close leisure centres to use as shelters for those affected by the flooding.
Nearby areas such as Quakers Yard and Aberfan have also been cut off due to flooding which was caused when the River Taff burst its banks because of heavy rainfall.
