WHILE USW 2nd were left to rue a below par display, Cardiff Met boss Jack Lyons spelt out exactly why his side were able to claim a notable 2-0 win at the Sport Park.
Goals from Isaac Atherley and Effy Kazard secured the spoils for the visitors – and their coach couldn’t hide his satisfaction after the final whistle.
The win was significant as Met have games in hand and can still snatch the title from league leaders USW.
Lyons said: “The boys were excellent today and I thought so for the full 90 minutes.
“All my players ran through brick walls for each other and I couldn’t ask for anything more from them.
One player who stood out in particular to Lyons was Met attacker Will Tucker.
“Will ran the show and was a class above the rest,” said Lyons.
“He was calm on the ball and kept it every time he got it, creating lots of chances for the team.”
Knowing that Cardiff University are in a similar situation to themselves in terms of league position, Lyons retains a positive outlook.
He added: “We will have to see how Cardiff got on today but hopefully we can push on and win all of our remaining games”.
