USW 3rd were a clear second best as they fell to a resounding 42-16 defeat against a strong University of the West of England (UWE) side at the Sport Park.
The hosts started brightly but struggled to keep up the intensity Bristol brought to the game.
UWE goal attack Naomi Harington was a handful throughout and constantly kept the USW defence busy. It was Harington’s fine finishing that did most to craft a 16-8 lead for the visitors by the halfway mark.
UWE added to their lead as they controlled the ball and made the most of their attacks, with Harington and White adding to the lead.
While USW kept trying to launch attacks they couldn’t make the most of them with Atkin and Smith squandering chances.
USW were 29-11 behind going into the final quarter and while there was some eye-catching play from Smith, Atkin and Georgia Moule towards the closing stages, none of it was enough to deny the away side.
USW hope for a better result when they take on Aberystwyth in two weeks’ time.
