USW 6ths head coach Sam Morris was extremely proud of his team following their impressive victory over Royal Agricultural College.
After coming away with a 5-4 victory, Morris was quick to stress his relief on getting their first win of the season.
“I’m relieved, I’m really proud of my players today, they’ve worked hard in training over the last couple of weeks and throughout the season.” Morris said.
“Some of our performances this season haven’t got us the results but today, as I said, I’m proud of my players as they were able to get that result and get the first three points of the season.”
Early in the second half, Morris’ side went 4-2 down but miraculously they pulled back level before striking a winning goal late in the game. When asked whether the comeback was ever in doubt, Morris was keen to highlight his side’s mentality.
“The mentality of the players has been terrific this season, so there was no doubt that we were going to get another goal and make the game even more interesting.”

Morris continued: “We did miss a few opportunities early on but to get it back to 4-4 and for them to keep it going, I’m extremely proud.”
Morris ended by stating what his team needed to work on in preparation of their next game against Bath Spa.
“I think it’s just to keep doing what we’re doing, the performances over the past few weeks have been really positive, we’ve been able to play really good football.”
“At the start of the season it was very scrappy but now we’re starting flow within our football.”
Morris concluded: “So not much to work on, it’s just punishing more teams in the final third and getting our shots away. It’s defined our season so far, not being able to score goals but scoring five today has certainly boosted our confidence.”
Ending the interview, Morris joked: “Thank God we won!”
