A GROUP of Swansea residents slept rough on Thursday night to raise money for a project which does vital work within the community.
The community project – called Matthew’s House – began in 2016 when Hill Church Swansea purchased a Grade 2 listed building in the City’s High Street.
The sleep out, which is called The Cold Truth, took place outside Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium yesterday.
On the home page of their website, they state that ‘Matthew’s House exists to provide a warm and welcoming building in the heart of Swansea, with the expressed intention of being accessible for the homeless and most vulnerable in Swansea.
‘We aim for it to have the feel of a home where hospitality is experienced by all who enter the doors, regardless of their background, beliefs or circumstances.’

The fundraiser has been organised by Kelly Thomas, who is the payroll manager for Swansea City,
Lee Trundle, the former Swansea City striker, has thrown his weight behind the project – with the fundraiser’s website stating that he has raised almost £100 to date.
The 43-year-old, who is still playing football and is currently with Cymru South outfit Ammanford, said on his Instagram account: “One night out could never touch what a homeless person goes through the whole year round but hopefully we can raise some money and awareness.”
The current total stands at £360, which means they are well on their way to achieving their target of £500.
That’s a wrap from @LibertyStadium
The #coldtruth sleep out is over. Thank you if you took part, braved the wind, the brief showers too!
