SAVE the date! Thursday May 7 that is, the day BA Sports Journalism students at University of South Wales will be staging their Social Media in Sport Conference.
Taking place at the university’s atrium campus in central Cardiff, the conference follows on from last year’s Women in Sport themed event held at the Trefforest Sport Park, which included guest speakers such as Wales’ Women’s record goalscorer Helen Ward, Wales Women manager Jayne Ludlow and former Welsh international Rowland and Wales Women rugby coach Rowland Phillips.
This year guest speakers will focus on a range of topics that highlight the good, the bad and the ugly of social media’s influence on sport – a topic that is rarely far from the sports news agenda.
We have two scheduled speakers already, Simon Thomas of WalesOnline, one of the most respected sports journalists in Wales, and Gareth Rogers, digital engagement officer for the Football Association of Wales Trust.
More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks for what promises to be a fascinating and illuminating day of discussion and debate around a subject that stirs emotion and forthright opinion among so many.
