EFL League Two: Newport County v Walsall

NEWPORT remain top of League Two despite their 1-1 draw against Walsall at Rodney Parade.
Newport County continues their impressive start to the season after maintaining their unbeaten record at home this season.
But Walsall struck first thanks to a good finish from Elijah Adebayo who found space in Newport’s box and slotted home nicely past Newport’s goalkeeper Nick Townsend.
An instant reply from Newport, saw them level the game thanks to a goalkeeping error from Liam Roberts who fumbled the ball into his own net after Scott Twine’s long range effort.
Walsall could have had their own Instant reply as Newport’s Matty Dolan gifted the visitors a chance to regain the lead as Emmanuel Osadebe found himself in front of the goal but dragged his shot wide.
Newport started the second half the better team as goal scorer Scott Twine should have scored his second of the game as a cut back pass found Twine wide open in the middle of the Walsall’s box, but the shot was struck straight at Liam Roberts.
Robbie Willmott made an instant impact on the game as the substitute put in a lovely ball in the box for Scott Twine who wasted the chance after he headed the ball wide.
Scott Twine was fouled on the edge of the Walsall box by Rory Holden who received a yellow card for his troubles, but Matty Dolan’s effort from the free kick was deflected wide for a corner.
Walsall didn’t create any chances in the second half despite receiving a numeral amount of corners in added time, but Newport eventually cleared their lines to share the points.
