THE Exiles Podcast is a new, advancing podcast dedicated to all thing Newport County. The podcast is hosted by second year students Harrison Kid, Owen Gardener, Geren Scapens, and Luke Hawkins.
The podcast has so far released 5 episodes of their fan-channel podcast, with the inaugural episode airing on their YouTube channel back in October of last year.
On the podcast, the second-year students discuss a variety of relevant, fan-oriented topics, such as transfers, team-sheets, press conferences, in-club stories, on-field results and much more.
Harrison is pleased with how the first of its kind podcast has come together so far.
“Overall, we’ve only done 5 episodes as we are a relatively new podcast which we decided to do mid-October time, we decided to do it a podcast about Newport County because we noticed there isn’t many podcasts on Newport and a club that’s in league 2 the fans deserve more coverage/content than what they get.”
When quizzed on the group’s plans for the future of the podcast, Harrison believes the priority is to continue in their current direction.
“We want to carry on the way we are going at the moment so a guest on every so often and a chat between the 4 of us (myself, Owen, Luke and Gerren) about Newport. For example, we talk about previous games, next game, transfer news, injury news and general news for about Newport.”
The aspiring sports journalist believes special guest regular special guest appearances on the podcast to discuss all the latest happenings could be beneficial to the growth of the podcast going forward.
“At the moment we’ve only had one guest on who was a former Newport captain Mark O’Brien who was a great guest, he was easy to chat to and had some really good stories.”
He continued, “We hope to carry on getting guests on as we think it’s one of the better ways to gain a following from Newport fans.”
