AMERICAN duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny see their takeover of non-league Wrexham AFC officially confirmed.
The Hollywood stars have made an equity investment of two million pounds into the Welsh club. £50,000 will go towards enhancing the women’s football programme and increasing participation at all levels.
Here is what the fans think of the takeover:
Matt Valentine, 36, said “The takeover is much needed for the club and the town.
“The supporters trust have been a godsend in recent years saving the club and steering us to safety. However, to take the club forward and back into the football league outside investment was required.”
Matt has been supporting Wrexham for 28 years.
“Rather than just a short-sighted approach of promotion, Rob and Ryan have carefully studied all areas of growing the club and infrastructure to cement a solid future for us.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind that this takeover is 100% positive for everyone involved,” he said.
One Wrexham supporter said on Twitter, “I’ve been a fan for 21 years. In that time, I have seen one promotion, three relegations, two cup wins, four appearances at finals and I have witnessed us come very close to dying, twice.
“None of that will compare to the ride we are about to go on.”
Graham Maloney, a supporter of Wrexham as early as 1976, believes the investment made by Reynolds and McElhenny is “hugely important and significant.”
He said, “This investment as well as the involvement alone of Rob and Ryan has given everything a huge lift.
“The impact on the whole community has been huge from the time this was announced and will only expand.
“It’s all super positive and exciting.”
As a whole, Wrexham fans seem to be delighted with the takeover and are excited for what the future holds.
