LLANDUDNO Albion have shown their support towards their local community by fundraising for food banks and charities within the area.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for support of people in crisis is at an all time high, so the club from North Wales have stepped up their efforts to help out.
To help out, the club are donating sales from next season’s new football kit to the Ty Hapus Community Resource Centre and the Conwy Foodbank. For every kit sold, the money will provide food for a large family for a day. An adult top is available to purchase for £27 and a full child’s kit is £35. The kit provider is also offering number and lettering on the back of the shirt for no extra price.

As well as it’s kit fundraiser, the newly formed club have also helped out by completing a 177-mile hike from Llandudno to Cardiff. The participants dressed up as an item of food, whilst they also pushed a trolley that was filled with food, which was being donated to a food bank. The efforts of the players raised a spectacular £2150, a 572% increase on the initial £375 target.

Hi everyone, some of you will know that I am going to be completing a charity hike all the way to Cardiff in order to try and put an end to people going hungry in the UK. This hike will be a extremely hard challenge. pic.twitter.com/MM3YVT15MT— Adam Connor Hold (@connor_hold) October 10, 2020
Chairman, Paul Cheung, said: “It’s not right that people can’t afford the basics. With your help, we can help end the need for food banks”
“Every single kit that we do sell is going to feed a family, so it’s very important to us.”
Connor McNamara, media manager at the Welsh club, also said: “We saw firsthand people struggling and I think it affected me, Paul and the other committee members”
“We wanted to help our local community, particularly the ones that have supported us” added McNamara.
For ‘Lockdown Relief’ day, an event set up by University of South Wales’ Sports Journalism course, two students spoke to the Llandudno Albion to help raise the awareness of the great cause. The full interview can be found below.
