Freya is the daughter of club team manager JP. Freya was diagnosed with a P.N.E.T Brain Tumour when she was just 22 months old. For the last five years Freya has been receiving MRI scans to monitor the tumour, last year the scan showed a new tumour had grown.
She had further brain surgery on the 31st of December where most of the growth was removed. The results showed that the tumour was a high-grade glioma.
Freya and her family have been in America since the 22nd of February so she can receive specialist treatment. They cannot travel back to the UK because the treatment she needs is not available here.
Swansea Rugby club have raised over £10,000 pound to go towards Freya’s treatment. To raise this money, players staff and supporters have embarked on a virtual/local bike ride and run the equivalent of the 10,800 mile all round trip from Swansea to San Diego.
Swansea player Tom Sloane has organised the fundraising and challenge including a raffle to win gym equipment from Industrial equipment.
Sloane commented, “For me it’s challenging as a front row forward cycling this distance. I know JP appreciates everyone’s help, but he would never have asked for it. We realised as a team we had to come together to support him. “
