As the third-year students get ever closer to the end of the course and with the hopes of graduation we took this time to talk to Joe Mansfield about his experiences on the course.
Joe looked back on the first year of the course and how he was able to build an understanding of the work that we would be doing for the rest of the course.
“During the first year of the degree, I was able to build a decent understanding of the various aspects of multimedia journalism. I enjoyed learning new things and creating a foundation from which I have built from.”
“Practicing at the sports park on a Wednesday throughout first year was a key part in practicing my skills from video and photography to match reports and interviews.”
Joe spoke about how COVID effected the second and third years.
“In the second- and third-year things have not been easy due to COVID restrictions, but it has helped me to be adaptable.”
He then highlighted the experiences that he has been able to get during this course.
“The course has provided me with some great learning experiences at press conferences and live matches. Those were lessons that could not be learned a classroom but the work in lectures prepared me for it.”
Joe looks ahead to his future after the course.
“The course has given me a variety of experiences that will hopefully help me to carve out a career in the industry. I’m currently in the process of applying for jobs to begin after my graduation.”
