The Wales women player ratings: Our verdict on individual performances in the 4-0 thrashing of Estonia

By Tobias Hunt

Wales women beat Estonia 4-0 at the Cardiff City stadium in front of a record crowd, leaving Gemma Grainger’s side in second place in World Cup qualifying Group I.

Here’s how we rated the Welsh players:

Laura O’Sullivan 5/10

Comfortable evening. Rarely touched the ball in her 87 minutes on the pitch.

Rhiannon Roberts 8

The right-back was a constant threat down the right for Wales. Chipped in with a fantastic assist for Helen Ward’s goal.

Hayley Ladd 6

Solid. Didn’t have to do much defensively, looked comfortable when in possession.

Gemma Evans 7

Like her centre-half partner, didn’t get tested defensively. She played some lovely cross field passes. Had a good chance first half, probably should’ve left it for Carrie Jones.

Ceri Holland 7

She was very persistent down the left flank and nearly set up the opening goal with a great ball for Ward. The Liverpool player created the third goal with her brilliant right foot cross for Natasha Harding.

Angharad James 9

One of the standout performers on a brilliant night for Wales. She calmly slotted in the opening goal to send her team on their way to the three points. Looked very calm on the ball and was always looking to play positively.

Natasha Harding 9

She was relentless throughout, giving the Estonia left-back a horrid time. She had a few chances in the first half however, she got her well-deserved goal in the second half when the ball rebounded off her into the net for Wales’s third of the night.

Sophie Ingle 9

The skipper forced the Estonia keeper into a few saves in the first half. She created the first goal with an excellent pass into the path of James, before rounding of the night with a goal in the final minute.

Jess Fishlock 8

She was a creative spark throughout. Played some brilliant passes and was always looking to take on defenders.

Carrie Jones 7

The 18-year-old put in a shift and was always looking to get on the ball. She had a great chance  while waiting at the back post, but it was taken off her by a stretching Evans.

Helen Ward 8

Wales’s record goal scorer showed her quality with a great first-time finish to take her tally to 44 international goals. Also had a few half chances in the first half. Very good overall.
