ANGHARAD James labelled Wales’ victory over Estonia in front of a record-breaking attendance as one of the top moments of her career.
The night was monumental for female football in Wales, breaking the record attendance for a women’s international with 5,455 supporters attending at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Wales made it 10 points from 12 in FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 qualifying last night as they triumphed Estonia with herself, captain Sophie Ingle, Wales’ record goalscorer Helen Ward and Natasha Harding all scoring.
The midfielder was glad to have bagged what was her third goal in a Wales shirt in 90 caps.
James said: “It’s up there, definitely from an individual point of view as well as a team point of view.
“The fact that we scored four goals against a very well organised team is a credit to us for all the week we have put in during the week.
“To bounce back from the last game (1-1 draw versus Slovenia), we were a little bit disappointed with the performance and the tempo we played at.
“So, to come back here in front of over 5,000 fans, credit to them for coming out and hopefully they will be out for the next one too.

“It is just nice for Sophie (Ingle) and I to get on the scoresheet. It was a nice moment for both of us, but more importantly to get the win.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the qualifying campaign in group I, which consists of France, who are ranked fifth in the world, James insists the belief of Wales reaching their first ever major tournament is very much there.
Wales’ next game comes on November 26th when they welcome Greece, followed by the tough task of travelling to visit group leaders France four days later.
“We have belief within the group, and we have since the first game. We know that this group is tough, and the next camp will be a very important one,” James added.
“We are going into it confident and off the back of being unbeaten in the first four games, we have never done that before, so we are in a great position.”
