USW men’s 1st team went down 2-1 to Bath in a Bucs clash at the Sport Park.
It was a spirited display that yielded nothing, much to coach Jonathan Jones’ frustration.
Here’s our verdict on how each player performed:
1 – Shaun Gardiner 6/10
The goalkeeper displayed intelligence and accurate kicking throughout the game, and certainly kept out a few chances from the opposition even through conceding twice.
2 – Shinji – 5
He had a slow first half but grew into the game in the second half, he showed discipline throughout.
3 – Cam Gouci 6
His ball carrying was promising up the left side of the field, along with a good deal of interceptions and ground duels.
4 – Morgan Bevan N/A (Substitute)
5 – Andy Martin 5
His long passing was pinpoint throughout the tie, complemented by his aerial duels at the back.
6 – Dylan Plenty 5
Though he committed continuous strong challenges, his performance was plagued by his first half own goal.
7 – Freddie Stevens 7
One of the standout performers for USW, he was energetic from the first whistle, his first touch was great and it was clear he wanted to play forward, the driving force of the attack.
8 – Sam Westhead 7
He stuck to his role well and dictated play in the middle, he made sure to get back and defend and broke up play with great ability.
9 – Taylor Marsh 6
He showed strong aerial prowess and had good spells of holding up the ball.
10 – Adam Kaplan 7
He positioned himself well and was quick in getting back for his team, a skilful display capped off by his goal.
11 – Tristan Jenkins 6
A few chances came his way that he couldn’t quite convert, though he did really well to position himself and get into these areas.
18 – Kamil Flariski N/A (Substitute)
16 – Hushashi Kuwahara 5
His aerial ability was shown in the second half through linking with his attacking options, apart from this his involvements were relatively thin.
