USW Sports Journalism students have launched a campaign designed to showcase their journey towards joining the ranks of fully paid-up professionals.
The Join Our Journey campaign will use a weekly podcast along with feature stories and video to offer a window into life as a trainee on Wales’ most established sports journalism undergraduate degree.
There will be background stories, regular insights into the goings on both at the atrium campus and the many external games and events the students attend.
It’s hoped the campaign will be useful in helping anyone seeking a career in the industry to decide if sports journalism is indeed a career for them.
Course leader Delme Parfitt said: “This is being run entirely by the students and there really is so much to share in terms of what life is really like on this course.
“The students never cease to amaze me with the extra things they do and the ability they have in so many different spheres.

“I hope if there are people out there debating whether they should go for a career as a sports journalist, they can see what we’re doing and think ‘yes, I’d love to have a crack at that’.
“Everyone is welcome to apply to join us. If they do, we’ll get them ready for the industry.”
The students have already recorded two podcasts, which you can listen to here.
