A dismal USW fell to an 8-3 defeat against a well organised Bath Spa team at the Sport Park.

A hat-trick from striker Jaime Bullen and a brace apiece for wingers Thomas Byrone and James Foulden did the main damage to the hosts, with Bath midfielder Tom Rees completing the rout on an easy afternoon for the visitors.

There was little consolation in goals for USW through captain Tom Smith and forwards Doake Sondravein and Sylvester Anaise.

The opening period of the match was actually dominated by USW as they looked to get on the front foot.

This early pressure paid off when USW captain Smith was able to play in forward Anaise who powered into the net at his near post.

But this was to prove the one good moment of the first half for the home side as they gave away three easily preventable goals before the interval.

The worst of them came towards the end of the half when the USW defence tried to play offside on the halfway line only to allow allowing Foulden a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, which he coolly slotted away.

The second half didn’t start much better for USW as Byrone outfoxed the defence with two excellent goals, the second one a rea;l gem that saw him go past five defenders to smash past the keeper at the near post.

Despite being 5 -1 down USW battled on and did manage to score through Smith to give them a glimmer of hope of getting something out of the match.

That hope would be short-lived however as Bath responded with three goals of their own through Rees, Foulden and hat-trick hero Bullen.

Sondravein pulled one back, but the game was already finished by that point.
