UNIVERSITY of South Wales 4ths’ winless start to the season continued following a heavy defeat to Cardiff Medics 5ths in the Aldi Men’s Western Tier 5.
First half goals from Jish Mathan, Gethin Hicks, Rory Hargraves and Frank Davis set the visitors on their way to victory, while Dan Esson added a fifth late on.
Visiting centre-half Sunni Bahi had the first chance of the game with a looping header that went over the crossbar.
Mathan opened the scoring for Medics, tapping in at the back post following a cross by Medics captain Niall Hill.
Their second followed a couple of minutes later with a cross from Hill bouncing in the box as fullback Hicks arrived at the back post to stab home to double Cardiff Medics’ lead.
Medics compiled further misery on USW with Hargreaves firing home from close range as he capitalized on a bouncing ball in the penalty area.
Davis gave the away side a fourth before the break with a superb low-driven attempt from range.
USW grew into the game in the second half, having lengthier spells of possession and limiting Medics to few chances.
A fifth goal came for the visitors in the final few moments with centre-half Esson heading home from a corner to cap off a dismal day for USW.
