A dominant fourth quarter display ensured a 42-30 victory for Aberystwyth, despite a spirited effort from the USW 2nd in the first round of the Western Conference Trophy.
It was a tightly contested encounter throughout the game, with Aberystwyth holding a small lead of 28-25 going into the final quarter.
However, some quick build up play and prolific shooting from Aberystwyth, Goal Shooter Nia Miller being particularly clinical, proved the difference between the two sides.
USW battled well throughout the entire match, but were unable to build on that to take the lead in the match.
Centres Jess Arnold and Megan Jones had an interesting matchup in the middle, who dictated the play for their respective teams throughout the match.
However, a convincing display from Aberystwyth in the final 15 minutes cemented the result, with USW ruing their missed chances to reduce the deficit.
USW 2nd will come up against the Aberystwyth 2nd on Wednesday 16th Nov, 2pm in Western Tier 6.
