BATH University coach Che Evans was ecstatic after his side moved one step closer to winning the BUCS Aldi Men’s Premier South with a 10-2 destruction of USW at the Sports Park.

Despite going behind early on, Evans was always “quietly confident” that his unbeaten Bath side would get back into the game.

And they did. The visitors took a 4 – 1 lead into the break and never looked back after USW striker Rhyse Hudson was sent off for dissent towards the end of the first half.

“We were already 4 – 1 up (when Hudson was sent off) and I thought we were fully worth that at the time,” said Evans.

“It made it (the match) a little bit farcical really.

“Being honest, I heard what he said, and I can’t repeat it to you. I’m not entirely sure it was aimed at the referee although the rules are you shouldn’t use that language on a football pitch.

“You’ve got to try and stamp down on these things.”

Bath are now on 22 points after eight games and need to beat East London – the only team who have taken points off them – next week to win the league.

“It is going to be a tricky fixture,” Hudson added.

“They’re going to come up full of energy with nothing to lose but if we do the right things in the right areas, make the right decisions in the right areas ,we’ve got some footballers who can go and win football matches.

“We’re not going to be complacent.”

USW coach Andrew Whittington declined to comment after the game.
