A hat-trick from Mia Blazey cemented a commanding 5-2 victory for Bath against the USW Women’s first team.

Bath dominated the first half and two goals in two minutes from Blazey meant USW went into the break 2-0 down.

USW began the second half strongly, with Taite Trivett getting on the end of a scrappy corner to half the deficit, before Bath goalkeeper Issy Pare parried the ball from a free-kick into the path of Meg Saunders who levelled the score.

Rachel Stevens came close to giving Bath the lead once again in the 60th minute, with an effort that came off the post followed by a ‘goal’ that was ruled out for offside.

But Stevens was then able to convert with her next effort. A good run on the left-hand side and finish low at the near-post.

USW found themselves two behind once again after an error from goalie Mackenzie Ellingham who turned the ball into the net, before Blazey completed her hat-trick by rounding the keeper and slotting into an empty net.

Late chances were spurned by Bath to add to their tally, however the visitors controlled the majority of the game and came away with all three points.

USW Women’s will look to bounce back in their next fixture, an away trip against Essex.
