USW 5th’s thrashed Aberystwyth 2nds, almost reaching double figures in this Aldi Men’s Western Tier 6 clash.

Two goals apiece from Joe Anaisie, Tom Smith and Gyo Kimura, and further strikes from Teifi Jones, Lewis Price and Ben Joseph capped a fantastic performance from USW who dominated the game throughout and should have scored more.

The home team started on the front foot, going 1-0 up inside five minutes through Anaisie who stuck a venomous shot into the bottom right-hand corner.

USW continued their early dominance and doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Kimura scored a deflected free-kick from 25 yards, although Aberystwyth goalkeeper Vinnie Orford will be disappointed with his positioning.

The hosts kept piling on the pressure and nearly made it 3-0 when DoAke Sonrendein attempted a fantastic acrobatic effort which went just wide of the post.

In the 35th minute USW extended their lead to 3-0 when captain Smith had a five-yard tap in after a scramble in the box from a corner.

Two minutes later USW scored their fourth of the day when a through ball from midfield played in Kimura who side-footed home.

It was 5-0 just before half-time when Anaisie scored from the penalty spot and 6-0 early in the second half when Jones converted from a cross.

Further efforts from Price and Joseph took it to 8-0 and although a smart chipped finish from Kell opened Aber’s account, captain Smith made sure USW had the last word with a ninth.

USW will be delighted with their performance and will hope to continue in the same manner when they host UWTSD Carmarthen 1sts next Wednesday.
