USW 2nds rounded off their season in style by winning a dramatic game against the Medics which went to the wire.
The first half was a tense affair which saw the Medics sustain possession and create more chances.
Max Franke, Aidan Richards and Tom Rush had all had opportunities in the opening half-hour, forcing USW goalkeeper Alfie Tucker into some fine saves..
The best chance of the half fell to the visitors’ Ollie Barrett with Tucker saving superbly from close range.
USW started the second half in spectacular fashion with Owen Brighton scoring a screamer in the 48th minute to give USW the lead.
Brighton’s goal was quickly followed up by Alex Jacklin in the 52nd minute when he found himself at the back post for a tap-in.
It was both Brighton’s and Jacklin’s final game at the Sports Park, with the duo looking to go out in style.
It quickly became 3-0 in the 65th minute when Kai Sauring’s flick found its way into the net from a low cross into the box.
The Medics were given a penalty in the 72nd minute following a tangle of legs in the area, which was converted by Max Franke, and then proceeded to apply late pressure.
Franke pegged it back to 3-2 in the 87th minute with a free-kick, which set up a dramatic finish.
But despite a few more chances, Tucker was equal to everything that came his way and the hosts held out for the win.
